Pane cunzatu ...

Pane cunzato - in Sicilian ----- Pane condito - in Italian

During the Summer ... when it's very hot and the temperature gets to almost 40° ... we don't usually feel like eating very much. Especially in the evenings ...

So ... we either go out and eat something light or we may prepare at home some pane condito ...

To make a pane condito I get this kind of bread and fill it up with:
some fresh tomatoes ...
fresh red onions ...
black olives ...

some ham ...
some cheese ...
and a bit of olive oil ...

I leave it in the oven until the cheese gets melted ... and the bread is nice and crunchy ...

It's delicious ...

but don't do it in the microwave oven ... otherwise it gets all soaked ...

We can also buy pane condito, already filled with goodies, and take it home ... or eat it where they make them ...

pasta with ragù and parmesan cheese ... simple and very good !!!
